Hawkes Archaeological Services provides professional, cost effective and common sense solutions to all archaeological requirements across the island of Ireland without compromising our shared cultural heritage.

We are fully insured and offer pre-planning advice and services, including archaeological assessment, excavation, testing, monitoring, geophysical survey, GIS and mapping services, building surveys and other heritage advice/teaching to interested parties. These include local authorities, government departments, private developers (small and large), architects and engineers, planning consultants and local community groups, schools and societies.

The company is directed by Dr Alan Hawkes, who has considerable expertise in all areas of archaeological field methods, is eligible to hold and excavation licence and is a full member of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland. In addition, the company is affiliated with a wide range of specialists including Geophysicists, Osteo-archaeologists, Environmentalists, Illustrators and experts in all areas of artefact finds.

The company is fully compliant with the National Monuments Acts, the guidelines of the Dept. of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and the IAI Codes of Practice.  We also actively engage in archaeological research projects throughout the country, often in collaboration with Universities and other researchers. For instance, the company has recently been awarded Royal Irish Academy funding for 2017.

Hawkes Archaeological Services offices are based in Co. Cork, but we provide services to clients throughout the island of Ireland.
